This is rare documentary filming: black and white, precise, detailed and with long takes that follow
a set trajectory. Who else has so meticulously and respectfully observed such a steel monster ever
since Ivens, Van der Horst and Haanstra? Still, this is evidently different. The dynamics of the
subject has been transformed into sluggishness and its heroism into murkiness. (Skrien)
distances 2 (afstanden 2)
fiction, 12', 16 mm, black/white
gulliver tells about his love for travelling.
cast: titus muizelaar
idea, editing: annette apon, based on gullivers travels by jonathan swift
photography: bernd wouthuysen
sound: noschka van der lely

It engenders an intriguing contrast between the quaint adventure stories and the attractively
natural acting by Muizelaar. (Skrien)
distances 3 (afstanden 3)
fiction, 5', 16 mm, colour
the accidental meeting of a woman and a man, told in terms of colour.

Distances 3 is a study of colours. A highly amusing study of colours. The art-direction in red is extreme
but ironical, and when the frame suddenly fills with various colours, it turns into an exercise in comedy
that brings to mind how little use is made of colour in comedies. (Skrien)
